Still Here is an awareness app. It is meant to keep names in the room, not to harvest you. Last updated 18 September 2026.
Safe mode
Every visit opens quiet. Sound does not resume from last time. Pocket alerts do not fire because you opened the app. No font company, photo host, or analytics service is contacted just to show you a page. If this browser blocks storage, the app still opens — it does not crash, and it does not keep a copy. Safe mode is not a switch. It is how the door works.
What this app is
A public watchlist drawn from the IUCN Red List and other open records. There is no account required to use it. Accounts, when they exist, will live on a page that currently says they are under construction.
What stays on this device
Species ids you chose to watch, whether you asked for pocket alerts, and which alerts you have already seen. That lives in this browser only. We do not have a copy. Sound is a session choice — it is never remembered across visits. There is no password, token, name, or email in that slot. Anything else found there is ignored.
What we do not collect
No name, email, phone, or payment. No advertising identifiers. No sale of lists. No cross-site tracking pixels. No analytics beacons. If you never tap Share, and never follow an off-site link, nothing about a species you watched leaves this device on our behalf.
Notifications
Pocket alerts use the browser Notification API, and only after you turn them on. They do not fire on their own when you land here. You can turn them off on Watch or in the browser. If the browser blocks them, the in-app pulse still works. Closing the tab means we are not sending anything — there is no background worker.
Sound
Optional looping audio plays in this tab when you ask for it. It is not a microphone. It does not record you. It starts off, every time.
Share
Share copies a title, a short line, a link, and — on species pages — the animal’s card. Where you send that is your choice. The main Still Here card is what the open web sees for the home page; species cards travel with the share action from that page.
Third parties
Species facts cite the IUCN Red List and named field programs. Portraits and type live on this origin. We do not call Wikipedia, iNaturalist, or a font CDN while you browse. Off- site links (IUCN, Wikipedia, field programs) open in a new tab without a referrer. Those services have their own policies, which start only if you follow the link.
Children
This is not directed at children under 13. It is a public conservation ledger, not a social network.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that actually affects you, we will date it here and note it on the changelog. The point of the app is the animals. The point of this page is that you should not have to guess.
Clear this device
Removes the watchlist, pocket-alert preference, and which alerts you have seen from this browser. It cannot unsay a share you already sent. The browser may still remember a notification permission you granted — turn that off in the browser if you want it gone too.
Questions about a species belong on the directory. Questions about a watchlist belong on Watch.
